The Almighty Architect

While walking on the streets of the concrete jungle in Kuala Lumpur, we cannot help but to gaze at the multitude skyscrapers of unique designs. We’ll start to wonder who have designed them, how creative and talented the architects and the engineers are, and the level of perseverance shown by the contractors in visualizing their masterpieces. Once we’ve appreciate the design, we’ll start to question further; how strong is the structure? How many people were involved in the designing and building of these skyscrapers? Will the structure be strong enough to take the forces of nature? How complicated were the designs? Are there any expected major flaws? These questions relates to ayah in the Qur’an, “And the heaven, He raised it high, and He made the balance. That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure.”Surah Ar-Rahman (55:7-8). Do all the designs adhere to the same exact perfect measurement?

In fact, every single being in this world has its Creator, its Designer, and its Architect. And in all creations Subhhaan’Allah, the Creator applies the same exact perfect measurement and this is mentioned in Surah Ar-Rad, verse 8,”...and there is a measure with Him of everything.” of which, we just need to realize, study them and submit ourselves by appreciating how powerful, yet not magical, this measurement is, and the Almighty Architect is Subhan’Allah, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. As stated in Surah at-Talaq(65:3),“…verily, for all things has Allah appointed a due proportion.”- It is noted that in fact, this perfect ratio has been used in the design of, among many distinguished architectures such as the pyramids in Egypt, the masterpieces by famous painter, such as Leonardo Da Vinci, among many, has been applying this measurement in all of his masterpieces for hundreds of years.

1.618 – mathematically speaking, this perfect measurement is referred to as the Golden Ratio. The Golden Ratio often referred to by many names; the Golden Mean, extreme and mean ratio, medial section, divine proportion, divine section, golden proportion, golden cut, golden number, and mean of Phidias. Phi (Φ), that represents the value 1.618, should not be mistaken with Pi (3.142), that calculates the ratio of circumference of a circle to its diameter, even though both are irrational numbers indicated by the ellipsis, “…”, due to the infinite number of digits after the decimal point. Phi is determined when a line is divided in its unique way.

Allahu Akbar. We should know by now, Who has created us and Who has created the universe. The Qur’an urges us Muslims to observe and contemplate the creation of our own body,And in yourselves; then will you not see?”- Surat Adh-Dhāriyāt (51:21). Our own body is among the greatest signs that clearly should make us realize of the existence of God.

"And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein" – Surah Qaf( 50:16). The scientific studies showed that the heart while at rest regulates and creates Alif Lam Lam Ha [3]. The ECG machine that shows these waves labelled as p,q,r,s,t simply says that Allah is closer to us that we could ever imagine.  Also stated in the Surah Ar-Rad, verse 28, “Those who believe and whose hearts are set at rest by the remembrance of Allah; now surely by Allah's remembrance are the hearts set at rest.”

Can we be recreated, in that perfect manner?  The crystal clear view of our pair of eyes, our nose that are designed in such a way that not only we able to breathe with it, it’ll filter anything to dust particles. The human tongue, gives us the sensation of taste; sweetness, sourness, saltiness, and bitterness. We are able to walk, run, or even jump by the combination of internal organs and bones that working tirelessly with our muscles, veins, arteries, which made of same material, which is cells. Whether we want to believe it or not, each organs, bones, cells in our body has the size and shape that exactly meet the requirement of that part of the body. As a result of his 25 years long study, aesthetician Dr. Steven Markout proves that each of human faces and bodies, created in accordance to this perfect measurement – 1.618.

Those who do not believe would have scientific explanations on that, which will eventually lead back to the same point of answer, not argument. Islam is perfect in its teaching, that it explains EVERYTHING in one source – Al-Quranul Kareem. Question is, exactly HOW?

In the Qur’an, the results by applying this value pointed out to the word Makkah, in Surah Ali-‘Imran (3:96), where that particular verse has 47 letters which, after being divided by 1.618, gives you the value 29 that refers to the word Bakkah (another name for Makkah). The next verse of the same Surah revealed that Makkah is the first house founded for the mankind. In it are clear signs [such as] the standing place of Abraham. And whoever enters it shall be safe. And [due] to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House - for whoever is able to find thereto a way. But whoever disbelieves - then indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds.”. And the Holy Land of Makkah itself, located at the perfect proportion with the North Pole of 1234832 km/ 7631.68 km and so does the distance between South Pole and Makkah, which gives you 1.618. Subhan'Allah!

Now, the question is, where is then, the Golden Ratio Point of the World? Let’s try this little exercise. Using the Google Earth ruler feature (under Tools), select on the LINE feature and choose the unit of measurement of your choice, then, click on the TWO points on the field that we wish to measure [4]. With respect to positive longitude and latitude values and by taking drift angle to the land, but not to the sea, the single Golden Ratio Point of the World is Makkah.

By observing, studying and pondering about the beyond words and imagination of creations of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, Subhan’Allah, “So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?”- Surah Ar-Rahman( mentioned 31 times in this Surah)

Subhan’Allah!
